Option 1: Using a rubber mallet

  1. First, separate the gas lift from the seat: gently tap around the area where the gas lift connects to the base using the rubber mallet to loosen it.
  2. Then, wiggle the seat to fully detach the gas lift from the seat.
  3. Next, tap the edge of the bottom of the gas lift with the mallet to separate it from the chair base.

Option 2: Using an 18-inch pipe wrench

  2. After that, use the rubber mallet again to detach the gas lift from the chair lift.
