How to remove gas lift from office chair?

Option 1: Using a rubber mallet

1. First, separate the gas lift from the seat: gently tap around the area where the gas lift connects to the base using the rubber mallet to loosen it.
2. Then, wiggle the seat to fully detach the gas lift from the seat.
3. Next, tap the edge of the bottom of the gas lift with the mallet to separate it from the chair base.

Option 2: Using an 18-inch pipe wrench

2. After that, use the rubber mallet again to detach the gas lift from the chair lift.

Interestingly, while browsing videos recently, I came across a dedicated “gas lift removal tool” that makes it easier and more efficient to separate the gas lift from the seat. It’s impressive how technology continues to bring convenience!
